Jaan Tallinn, From Soviets to Singularity

Jaan Tallinn, one of the Founding engineering of Skype was pushing our imagination to limits with the concept of Singularity.
In his presentation on Demoday, Tallinn takes us from the year 1939, where the World Word Two led the US army to develop the first computer and Tallinn’s home country was occupied by the Soviets. Tallinn explains the development of technologies based from his experiences of making games, developing the music trading system KaZaa to selling the infamous Skype.

After making one of the biggest exist in European history, Tallinn and the rest of the Skype founders had big decisions to make. They had to decide what to do with their life. They could either retire, be a serial entrepreneur or go into investment business.

Tallinn chose the third option and establishes the company Ambient Investment. But little by little, Tallinn decides to turn his talents and time to his passion of singularity. He explains to the audience of Demoday some concepts that seem to be taken out from sc-fi movies.

Computer were always a part of Tallinn life, but he states that he is grateful that the computers he worked with were really slow as we are about to go into cutting edge technologies that will change our lives forever.
